Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information OrigamiPay collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to origami-pay.co.za and the OrigamiPay application.

Last updated: 29 June 2026

1. Who we are

OrigamiPay is a payroll application for South African businesses, available at origami-pay.co.za. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “OrigamiPay” refer to the operator of the service.

We act as a responsible party for the account information of the employers who use OrigamiPay, and as an operator (processor) for the employee data that those employers enter to run their payroll.

2. Information we collect

Account information: the name, email address and password you provide when you create an account, and billing details handled by our payment provider.

Payroll data you enter: information about your employees and your business that you capture to generate payslips — such as names, ID and tax numbers, salaries, banking details and deductions.

Usage information: basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, used to operate and secure the service.

3. How we use information

We use account and usage information to provide, secure, support and improve the service, and to communicate with you about your account.

We process the payroll data you enter only to provide the payroll features you use — calculating PAYE, UIF and SDL, generating payslips and producing your EMP201 totals. We do not use it for our own purposes, and we never sell it.

4. How we share information

We share information with service providers who help us run OrigamiPay — for example our payment provider, PayFast, which processes your subscription, and our hosting and infrastructure providers. These providers may only use the information to perform services for us.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the service.

5. How we protect information

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and the employee data you entrust to us.

6. Retention

We keep account and payroll data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can ask us to delete your data, subject to any records we are required to retain by law.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Employees whose data is processed by an employer using OrigamiPay should contact that employer in the first instance, as the employer controls that data.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies needed to sign you in and keep the service working. We aim to keep non-essential tracking to a minimum.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the “last updated” date above.
